A CHEROKEE TALE I WAS TOLD AS A CHILDA CHEROKEE TALE I WAS TOLD AS A CHILD. There was once a lone sparrow seeking shelter from the cold north winds and the snow,he flew into a mighty oak and asked for refuge,the oak replied ,no I have no room.The sparrow flew to another oak ,and again was denied. Shivering from the cold ,this small bird flew from oak to oak and was denied shelter each time. After many hours and dark closing in the sparrow spotted a lone pine tree,he flew into it and asked for shelter. The pine tree said," my needles are thin and I can offer you little,but you are welcome to stay. The CREATOR was watching everything as this took place and said," Mr. Oak tree, with all your heavy canopy would not offer one of my small creatures shelter...from this day forth,when the winds blow cold,you will shed your leaves and bare the cold winds naked. Mr. pine tree,because you had little to offer and gave all of yourself to help my little creature,your needles will forever remain green year round. IN EACH NATIVE STORY ,THERE IS A LESSON TO BE LEARNED....I WILL NEVER TELL YOU WHAT TO SEE....BUT I WILL SHOW YOU WHERE TO LOOK. blessings my friends !!
