ANTS... Help!!

Post  jamrs57 on Tue Jul 17, 2012 2:45 pm

I'm looking for something that really works in killing all kinds of ants. They are taking over my yard Evil or Very Mad and I don't want to use poison that can hurt my grandchildren or the cats cat . Any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried talcum powder but it doesn't work.

Thank you!!

I use this...

Post  frees40k on Tue Jul 17, 2012 6:27 pm

Hello

Well a couple of yrs back I had a bunch of fire ants. And this worked great, salt mixed in with baking soda. Put it on ant hills or where they are trails. Salt is tasty and soda when in side tummys bubbles and has no where to go....bye, bye ants.
Have a nice day,

Neem Oil or borax mixed with maple syrup or corn syrup should do the trick

Post  kuda on Wed Jul 18, 2012 12:54 am

Neem oil is a natural pesticide and deterrent for all kinds of insects.
Also there's a cheap product called Terro Ant Bait which is a mix of sugar syrup and borax - the ants wind up taking it back to the nest and feeding it to the queen- the colonies should collapse within a week. Just put it in areas that you want treated- do not set in areas beyond your yard and use responsibly. good luck

Dr. Myles H. Bader says:

3 1/2 Oz. Strawberry jam or any sweet jam
1 1/2 T of wet, canned cat food (cheap)
1 T boric acid
stir it up place in bottle caps etc, place where ants can get it; carry it back to queen, she dies of heartburn; keep out of reach of children and pets

Put a cut melon way away from house...they prefer it. Will draw them away.

1/4 C liquid hand soap
1 gallon tap water pour in their hole repeat 1 hr later.

fresh tansy leaves in corners of kitchen counter and windowsills. will repel 100%

Boric Acid

Post  carats on Sat Jul 21, 2012 11:10 am

Yes, the boric acid does the trick, but who sells it these days?
We looked at the hardware stores and Walmart, but what was once a common household item is no longer commonly sold. Anybody found some? Where?

Boric Acid Yeast 20 Mule Team Ps. 91

Post  .schooler on Sat Jul 21, 2012 10:02 pm

Boric acid works great. Find at a local hardware store, sometimes at a farm store. 20 mule team laundry soap is also borax/ boric acid. Mixing fine sugar with old yeast [that past due date stuff you may not want to cook with anymore] also works. They eat, or take back to nest and eat, causes swelling inside and kills them quickly.
Good luck!
We have also used scripture Ps 91 and that has worked for us with some pests!

Fabreze - been using it for two seasons now to rid roses of aphids, japanese maples of japanese beatles, ants in & outside the house, spiders, and other critters inside and out. A word of caution - it has been known to kill birds, like pet parrots, parakeets.... IT REALLY WORKS AS A NATURAL BUG KILLER...

Fabreze - Can also be used on clothing when in brush/woods/grass to ward off ticks, chiggers & mosquitoes... Of course, if you are hunting deer, etc would not be a good idea.
Animals will smell you coming from miles away.

I had ants that refused to leave my home no matter what natural remedy.

Then I heard about the spice Sage. They hate it and did leave my home after a few days.

I have medium dark carpet and found that it does lighten the carpet if you don't
get Sage out after a month or so.

Blessings, CZ Smile
