colors and direction they point

Hi! everyone some questions about the colors and direction they point. Most Nations say we are born in the East, so we come in from the east. When we die we go out the west so that is where our grandfathers live, west is black, North is white and south is red. So in reality there is no right or wrong with the colors or directions. So in reality there is no one medicine wheel for all native Americans. Color explanation and color replacement on the medicine wheel can vary based on various customs by : nations, tried, Clan, band, family and individual. It is true that the most common colors of the medicine wheel in native American are red, yellow black and white, these are not the absolute colors for all native American nations. Some nations use blue in the wake of black, others have purple instead of black. Yet some other nations have used green in lieu of black. The Lakota ( Sioux ) culture-four directions. When the Lakota people pray or do anything sacred, they see the whirl as having four directions. From these four directions comes the four winds. Each direction has a special meaning and collar associated with it. The cross symbolizes all directions. I am going to give you a short break down now and talk about the other parts of the prayer wheel. East is yellow, the direction from which the sun comes, light dons in the morning and spreads over the earth. This is the beginning of a new day. South is red because the southern sky is when the sun is at its highest. West is black to the west the sun sets and the day ends for this reason west represents the end of life. North is white north brings in the cold harsh winds of the winter season. These winds are cleansing.
Note: when the Lakota pray with the sacred pipe, they had two other directions: sky and earth the great spirit dwells high above like an eagle in the sky: this directions color is blue. Earth is hour mother from whom we receive our nourishment. The color of this direction is green for all growing things. We will talk about the prayer wheel, medicine wheel or four directions at our next grand council meeting. I hope this shed some light on the questions that many people have asked.
